Not every book needs to be 300 pages to convene a love story as some love stories are so intense they can be told in a short format. I was expecting a little more from this anthology as I had purchased others with authors featured in this one and they were excellent. However this one is not a great read but having said that you could purchase it if you wanted a holiday read that you could put down and go back to - just not my idea of value for money especially after reading the hype about the book.
Love the stories. Authors are wonderful and always come up with the most beloved heroes. Just wish the stories had been longer and more involved.
This anthology includes three novellas. All are well written and interesting. However, they are short, and much of the possible story development is left out because of this. That being said, for the price, they are perfect for when you haven't a lot of time and would like to read a complete story in one sitting. I really enjoyed each one.
First - I didn't realize that these were not going to be longer... I didn't notice that the whole book was shorter than expected.
That being said, they were well written but I will probably not buy any novellas of this type again where the stories are really short as I missed the character and plot level of depth normally associated with writers like Stephanie Laurens.
Luckily bought it as an e book for a cheap price, otherwise, I'd be upset with myself.
Good but not great...
Another waste of money, the only story worth reading was the one by Chase and it was a repeat up one I just recently read in another original anthology
These three historical stories are only 77 pages combined, so it won't take you very long to read, but I enjoyed them all. Each peripherally involves a royal wedding, but a non-royal couple is the focus of the tale. The stories are all super-short, so don't expect any passionate love scenes or a ton of character development, but each story is sweet and romantic.
In Stephanie Laurens' "The Wedding Planner," a woman who lost her fiance to war meets up with a man from her past.
"Ever After" by Gaelen Foley is about a married woman afraid her husband is having an affair.
Loretta Chase's story, "The Jilting of Lord Rothwick," is about a wealthy young woman who breaks off her engagement to a poor but aristocratic peer.
A short but cute read, and pretty reasonable at $1.99.
I have read full novels from these 3 authors and loved them all, so this anthology was really a treat to me.
First novella is the wedding planner by Stephanie Laurens lovely reading, romantic and with unusual characters. Fun dialogues and even a well-known face from Lauren’s series. Loved it, I just wished it had been longer or that it would have had an epilogue..
Second one is Gaelen Foley`s story, equally entertaining though a with simpler plot about a couple that after 5 years of marriage are living almost as strangers due to unsaid things, and the way back to building their relationship.
The last one is “The jilting of Lord Rothwick” by Loretta Chase; this one is the shorter one; again I would have loved for it to be longer but even so I really liked the characters, and the ending left me smiling.
There are a couple of sensual moments, some kissing but not much more.. Nothing too explicit though usually these authors do include that type of scenes.
Overall an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy a fast and comforting read.
